Elon Musk's satellite venture makes its Korean debut with 135 Mbps residential service, priced at 87,000 won monthly. The offering enters a market where 96% of households already have fiber-optic connections, positioning itself as a backup for outages or remote access.

Maritime and aviation sectors emerge as primary growth targets. Local telecom partners SK Telink and KT Sat will handle distribution, with specialized enterprise packages expected in 2024. 'This isn't about competing with KT's 5G network,' notes Seoul-based tech analyst Park Ji-ho. 'It's about serving oil rigs, container ships, and mountain rescue teams.'

The launch coincides with SpaceX's accelerated Asia-Pacific expansion, following recent deployments in Indonesia and the Philippines. Korea's advanced infrastructure presents unique challenges - urban latency issues persist with low-orbit satellites, while rural adoption faces cultural resistance to non-traditional ISPs.
